It just dumbfounds me that organizations like this aren't able to see the harm they are doing. To me it is an obvious thing that children should be allowed to experience normal physical development. Then, as adults, they can mutilate their bodies all they want, and have only themselves to blame. A child isn't mature enough to make those decisions.
I think the day will come when young adults who were maimed as children, and then became detransitioners, will bring law suits against hospitals, doctors and even against their parents. Litigation is what may finally stop what is happening. Frankly, I don't know why it isn't happening already.
I wonder if there isn’t coordination with Moira Szilagyi. I imagine the last thing she wants is to have to make a statement supporting or denouncing the lowered ages, hoping instead that this all dies down before the AAP convention in October. After all, she just (disingenuously) claimed that the AAP has ALWAYS supported a slow and methodical process based on thorough assessment and mental health support, rather than what its actual position has been and its members have embraced — a mad dash to medicalization at the drop of the “I feel like a girl/boy” hat. Or maybe WPATH knows that they’ll get slammed and people will start scrutinizing them. I’m never overly optimistic about this, but I’d like to think the winds are shifting enough to make them squirm a bit.
As a detransitioner, this is sick. To blatantly lie about these procedures being done on minors, than to have these guidelines in support of a practice clearly occurring. Jazz Jennings was 17 when operated on which was televised internationally. There are tons of minors confirming they are getting these life changing surgeries that they can't fully comprehend, especially if doctors have arrested their puberty before full sexual development. I was 24 when I had my first surgery and no one ever said "surgically induced menopause". I didn't know the long term health impacts of getting a hysto, I just thought no more periods and I NEED cross sex horomones for the rest of my life anyways, perfect! That was before I ever saw a gender psychiatrist, I got officially diagnosed about 6 months after surgery for approval to have my breasts amputated. I can only imagine what these kids are going through (I had severe mental health issues that impaired my ability to give informed consent)
