The thing about propaganda is that the more absurd the propaganda is, the more obviously its claims offend reality, the more power the propagandists demonstrate by insisting on their lies and pressuring others to go along. The point isn't to convince but to dominate and intimidate those who can be dominated and intimidated and to weed out dissent, the dissenters being anyone who won't go along with obvious lies.
