The "gender journey" is salvific, purifying, a faith journey. I keep thinking of Sufi mystic poets describing spiritual life as a series of vallys: the Valley of Identity, the Valley of Pronouns, the Valley of Hormones, the Valley of Parts Removal, the Valley of Parts Modification, the Uncanny Valley. Everyone is on their unique and wonderful gender spirit journey in life. You don't have to enter every valley in order to belong to the gender faith, you just have to believe that other people are having a different journey than you are.

First time and only time at a pride parade was in Montreal in the early 90s. My boyfriend now husband and I arrived late in the night and couldn't find a hotel room anywhere and slept in the car. We soon realized that all the hotels were booked because of pride. I remember it as eye opening and actually fun! There were topless men with breasts (I guess they were the Ts). I wasn't married yet or had kids at that time. I haven't been to anymore events like this. It certainly wasn't suitable for children in my opinion at the time. I can't imagine it being okay now.
