Stella and Sasha (Gender a Wider Lens) say often that parents know their children best. I am the parent of an 'adult' who transitioned at 32. I know he dove deep into gender stuff after a life of feeling like he didn't fit in. I think what folks don't know is that we parents we aware of our child's struggles, even the source of them, and worked to help, support, understand and be there by their sides. The one thing that doesn't get addressed, and I do believe happens in these online forums, is that folks are encouraged to dump the parents who were by sides through all the difficulties they had in childhood. Once they grab onto the trans idea they seem to need to walk away from their own histories and the people who really knew them and were there for them and who really do still love them, even though many presented challenges to the family, challenges we willingly and lovingly tried to be there for. I don't know why this, exactly. I went from loving, supportive mom to someone my child doesn't even care about at all anymore. Like their names, we are dead to them. It happened in an instant. So they find new 'family' amongst the other lost people and treat us exactly like they don't want to be treated. Exiled, excommunicated and vilified. In the interest of virtue signaling even extended family believe the newly woven stories. All of the people you report and and read about on reddit, etc, have moms and dads, sisters and brothers. Many of us in excruciating pain. Many of us worried. Most of us don't care how our kids look, or who they choose to be or express themselves as. Indeed we fought for our kids to be whoever they were and didn't want them diagnosed and/or pigeon holed. It's a sad, sad mess.
I love James Lindsay’s thoughts on this-the ideology itself says that anyone who “Doesn’t get it” Is an enemy. It separates people from their foundations/family so that they can be radicalized ❤️
