Ah, gloriously happy Elliot Page. Clearly finally found the answer to all of that previous pain. It's amazing how with just a little bit more self-harm, things just keep getting better and better. Not a chance this slice of heaven won't last. All of the evidence says mental health isn't improved long-term by transitioning, but it's hard to argue when you see this level of obvious bliss staring you in the face with those dead eyes. This is the typical irresponsible journalism that keeps the steady stream of teens flowing into the gender black hole and keeps them focused on death and dying as part and parcel. I would bet that she's not looking at aging male role models, either, although of course, at least men are allowed to age in Hollywood. Women, not so much.

The most hopeful interpretation of that blank gaze is: Page thinks that stifling emotion is key to performing masculinity. It’s not the most parsimonious explanation, though.

Her gaze doesn't even look blank, to me. She looks like she's five seconds away from bursting into tears.

So well said.

Woman-hatred is the illness. Woman-hatred is (presented as) the cure.

Yet more severe woman hatred is what is presented as the answer, yes.

Such deep self loathing is hard to bear. That the only way this young woman could find a measure of happiness (read a brief respite from her self loathing brought about by a culture intent on obliterating women), is to mutilate her body with surgeries and cross sex hormones is prima facie evidence of a profoundly sick society. Her chosen escape route only takes her deeper into its pathology. It reminds me of a quote from Krishnamurti: it is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society.

Can't imagine aging as a woman? I have news for you, hun...

The level of her mental illness jumps off the page. I feel sorry for her because the house may be rearranged but there's still none home.

See you in ten years. Elliott, if she survives, will be a very unhappy, aging *woman*, sterilized, hooked on drugs, living for the next hit of hormones.

She can mutilate herself however she chooses, she's a 35 yr old, but the fact that she's doing it so publicly and is encouraging

kids to follow her example is despicable. Saying "I'm so happy, I feel great" while looking like she's devastated at having been freshly disinterred isn't fooling anyone but the cult & the sad kids.

It all rather bears out the (censored and vilified) observation that identification as "trans" is more often the result of mental health issues, than a cause of them. And a threatened loss of recruits to psychotherapy and "watchful waiting" is exactly why the trans movement so angrily resists and brands it "conversion therapy". But all they have to offer instead is this grimly "euphoric" acting out of internalised misogyny...

Your voice is so important, Eliza, as this piece shows again. Thank you for working to expose the gaslighting that dominates mainstream media.

"Don't trust your eyes. Don’t draw your own conclusions. (That’s trans ideology in a nutshell.)" Part of the reason that's true is that we all need ways to determine whether our observations and conclusions are accurate. We do that in many ways, which all share a common feature: we agree to accept them as valid. Each of us has a unique combination of well-learned, mostly unconscious processes by which we assess information as reliable or not. That complex system of assessments leads to how we ascribe *epistemic authority*, the priority we assign to a particular source of information. The more epistemic authority we grant to some source or other, the more likely we are to accept its information as accurate.

Ideologies of all kinds depend on this feature of human intelligence. Every ideology *claims* epistemic authority - but it depends on every consumer's individual assessment to determine whether it flourishes or perishes in the ecosystem of ideas.

Religious ideologies are explicit in their reliance on the mechanisms of epistemic authority. They anoint priests and canonize holy books, so the audience will be psychologically coerced into granting them the epistemic authority they require to survive. They explicitly forbid questioning their central tenets, on pain of excommunication, public censure, or worse.

That rejection of critical analysis is the main characteristic of trans ideology, which is how we know it is a cult.

What kind of "social movement" threatens suicide if they don't get what they want?

A cult. Cults do that

less than 2 years ago ellen page was on the marc marion wft podcast where she spoke with marc maybe 40 minutes. the transcript is available at this link but reading it isnt as clear as listening. listening one gets a scense of her uncertainty and the struggles shes had and how she regrets that she stayed in the closet to help her career. it seems some in the gay community felt she betrayed them because she stayed in the closet. and now it seems she no longer has any uncertainty. gender ideology has provided a black and white world she has escaped to. also no one in the gay community can criticize her now. gender ID is the ultimate shield. the equire article was tailored by big money propagandists. she is being told her story helps people but actually its the opposite.

Photo reminds me of that phase in the fashion & modelling world called heroin chic. It was seen as having a bad influence on teenage girls at a time when eating disorders were prominent in the media.

My association exactly. Only that back then no one told us how euphoric those models were on account of taking heroin. Everyone knew it was self destructive and no one was censored for saying so.

One of the sad ironies of FTM transitioning is what you end up with in your pants. A MTF trans person may be able to get a facsimile of a vagina which looks somewhat convincing, but (based on the pictures I have seen) that isn't true of FTM transitioners. Creating lifelike male genitals is very difficult. And yet, men's genitals are so very important to them -- their size, their shape, their so-called potency or virility. To be a man with fake genitals must be an existential torture all by itself.

Whatever happened to accepting yourself as you are?

I'm a gay man, but I can appreciate female beauty. Martina Navratilova is still beautiful to me, despite her age. Believe in yourself, and you will be attractive all your life.

The pictures as scary. You see someone downtrodden, troubled, broken, someone in despair and agony. Someone with very deepseated issues. Just like drug addicts have - the reason why many people get hooked in the first place. Couldn't picture a story about a heroin addict titled with anything containing "euphoria" - even though heroin does induce that feeling and arguably does so more reliably and at much lower health costs under ideal conditions than "gender transitioning" does. Which should by no means downplay heroin addiction, by the way. But down generations, we have seen many artists struggle with self destructive means to cope with the burdens of their job, the demands on their public images, and yes, social pressure and temptations seemingly offering a way out. None of those stories was ever titled "The Euphoria of...". But as this new self destructive means of coping with mental issues and overbearing demands can be easily integrated in a religious agenda, we are to accept it as a way of salvation, never mind the broken soul we see with our own eyes.

she's the color of old cigarette ash, a corpsey cult zombie with power, money and a megaphone. she's got to be exhausted from all the mental gymnastics it takes to rationalize and justify her ruinous choice and how surely she will inspire so many more to do the same. if not being able to picture herself growing old is one of her top arguments for transitioning, then oy vey, i predict a nice long visit to the mental institution followed by a People magazine cover story.

Another vulnerable young girl buying into the idealogy of transitioning being the panacea to internalised misogyny and emotional issues. The constant shirtless scar photos for the fawning trans cult on IG are a red flag too.

Someone who has always struck me (whilst being a good actor) of a sensitive, easily overwhelmed personality type totally unsuited to the shallow dog-eat-dog world of Hollywood. Probably happier living quietly in the country with a wife and 300 rescued animals.

I wish him the best, but I don't see this ending well long term. And then the pressure of being the public face of trans would make any detransitioning that much harder.

Sad to hear that the marriage broke up shortly after publicly coming out as trans too.

Many of the things I hear young people say about wanting to transition don’t sound like dysphoria about their actual bodies, but about the feminine and masculine gender norms foisted upon us by rigid religious sects and the fashion industry. Page does seem to be mimicking the empty gaze one so often sees in the eyes of models, men and women alike. I’ve heard trans men speak about the relief of not having to worry about being so skinny. Why are we not asking why it’s acceptable to put so much pressure on women to be abnormally thin everywhere except their chest, and maybe their butt?
