What strikes me about these posts and the ones I've read on detrans Reddit is how alone these young people are. They're posting these significant existential questions to anonymous people online. They trust people they've never actually met, despite an intellectual understanding that the online world is a fake. They have no faith in the adults around them — likely been told to reject them. There are no longer "experts" or objective truths. They seem so utterly lost, just piecing together a reality that can get them through whatever awakening is stirring. You have to wonder how long it'll be before the vast majority come crashing down.

If we ever needed any further proof that trans ideology is indeed a cult, then all the evidence we require is included in the posts exchanged by these individuals. In other words..."you can't leave"....

I wonder if these people had been given psychological help instead of quickly encouraged to transition perhaps all these issues wouldn't be rising to the surface now.

Time and again we see the cult aspect of gender ideology; doubts about fundamentalist religious belief can be framed as 'the devil tempting you from the path of righteousness' by putting 'bad thoughts in your mind,' while doubts about gender ideology are your own "sinful" thoughts and if you go with them you're a "bad" person.

Your heart breaks for these lost souls whose mental illness (or just traditional teenage confusion) was sold back to them as a legitimate, exciting identity to be "affirmed." How you pick up and move on in the knowledge that adults encouraged you to pharmaceutically and surgically mutilate yourself, I have no idea, but I hope they eventually get the support they need.

The thing with patriarchy is that you'll never be "good enough" by society's standards, no matter what shapes you bend yourself into . The whole point is to keep you striving for approval so you're more pliable. If you start to have even an inkling that patriarchal proscriptions for behavior and appearance are bullshit, you'll be reminded of how "hateful" you're being--whether the accusation is transphobia or "man-hating" doesn't matter, you're being disobedient.

I feel so much heartbreak for the struggle they're in right now, but also I feel their strength in finding themselves and knowing transition didn't work for their GD. They gave their hearts to what became their community, let the community shape their lives, and now that they're able to see themselves as a being separate from society, as an individual influenced by society but not a projection of it, they're hoping their community can help them leave. That's not going to happen. The present GI community is like so many others that have their one dogma and anyone who dares question is a heretic and must leave eventually. I think the ones Eliza showed here will be ok, but it will be hard leaving their community they thought was there to support them.

One thing said by the first poster is something that seems to show up in some way with every detransitioner I've heard - that transitioning acted as a placebo, which seems to have given them the mental space to grow and accept themselves, which then led to accepting themselves as they are, on their terms, not seeing themselves as a projection of society, or a "meme".

The last comment - wow. Especially the part about infertility. Echoes of the eugenics movement.
