Gender clinics force detransitioners to "prove" they are ready to "transition" to live as... members of their actual sex. Treating transition and detransition as equivalents (ethically and in terms of standards of evidence) is one way gender clinicians hold the reality of what they're doing at bay.

I left Mormonism LOL And I started leaving when I was still attending BYU. It was tough to lose the friends and support I'd had for years. Thankfully that ideology didn't leave me physically damaged.

That’s an important point. The trans ideology has swept through the progressive movement like the Omicron variant of covid. Why?
IMAO, this is a long-standing weakness of Leftist/Progressive thought. A progressive says ‘Look at this! It’s horrible, it’s unjust, IT MUST BE DESTROYED!’ And frequently they are completely correct. But when the destruction is over, the replacement turns out to be worse. Imperial Russia, Kuomintang China, the Kingdom of Cambodia all had terrible injustices. Progressive reformers cheered the destruction of all three. But they got replaced by Stalin’s USSR, Mao’s China, Pol Pot’s killing fields. And Progressive reformers refused to see the reality of what they’d helped bring about.
Freud pointed out that people frequently act from motives they have repressed because they are ashamed of them. Ethology tells us that in social animal groups, some always seek dominance. And Orwell noted that to exercise power over people is to make them suffer. That combination gives rise to humanitarians with guillotines, chopping off heads in the name of an ostensibly better tomorrow, but actually because they get off on being murderers.
If Progressives want to eliminate evil, they really need to face what is evil within themselves, and build safeguards against it.
