It is amazing to see the ACLU turn into a Moloch cult. This homophobic family is supposed to pull my heartstrings and make me agree to have kids' bodies broken to release their gender goblins? No. Who thought this would work? Every time someone denies that homophobia plays a role in "trans kids," all I do now is link to the ACLU's own damn video and tune them out.
Hmmm. I think we need to be careful not to over-generalize. Attitudes toward transgender people vs. gay or gender-nonconforming people vary by culture and by subculture.
Transgender people are obviously more accepted than gays in Iran (which still has a death penalty for homosexual acts, last I heard, but does allow medical transition for trans people). Perhaps this is also true in some religious subcultures here in the U.S.A., as per your example.
But it's certainly NOT true in the mainstream culture of most Western countries today. Currently, in mainstream Western culture, same-sex marriage is more-or-less accepted by most people, whereas there is a lot of panic about transgender people.
