This simply shouldn’t be an option. Whether there is happiness over it in the moment or not, given that there are no criteria to determine who would benefit (anyone?) from having healthy body parts removed. No young person should have to “take responsibility” for something any rational adult would see is at high risk for tremendous regret. Is this really the best medical care we can offer young people in distress? Feels like something they’d have done in the Middle Ages.
