To all who follow Eliza:

Can we just take a moment to appreciate how Eliza, who is suffering from constant pain, has somehow managed to produce yet another measured, intelligent and perceptive piece of writing.

Eliza, thank you for this. I am sorry for all that you have gone through and can definitely relate. I am post-menopausal and experienced bleeding severe enough to be sent for 2 very painful biopsies. My GP finally made the connection to the 3 shots after the second biopsy. Will not be having any more boosters. Will share this piece and risk being labelled a right wing trucker convoy bitch because women's health matters. Always enjoy your posts. Your writing never fails to inspire. Cheers.

I have a friend who turned out to have terrible fibroids and the condition was exacerbated by the COVID vaccine. She bled for over 6 months, ended up in the hospital twice, and had to have surgery to remove the fibroids. It was scary and insane.

I have another friend who refused the vaccine up front because she was concerned about her fertility. My judgment towards her has certainly waned as more data has emerged.

Oh man. I'm sorry. I've had my own worrying menstrual changes since taking the vaccine and booster (large blood clots). I also stopped taking birth control years ago because of how it made me feel on my periods and a growing understanding of how important hormones are. It's one of the reasons I take puberty blockers and exogenous hormones so seriously.

"Why does it seem like women’s experiences always get outranked by loftier objectives?"

It's a pattern that enrages me to no end and is unfortunately a reason many women avoid going to the doctor (feeling dismissed, gaslit). It's like all women are Cassandra from the myth.

I truly hope your symptoms lessen. Do whatever you need to to take care of yourself. It's essential we put ourselves first as it's obvious no one else will.

I fear the medical establishment is trying to cover up stories like yours for the "Greater Good" of herd immunity. One of my side effects

I believe was severe yeast infections, like I'd never had before, my daughter the same horrible candida. My periods had been over for six months- menopause- and I started menstruating again, maybe the vaccine, maybe not. I'm sorry to read that you've been going through so much pain.

This makes me angry--once again, women are not being listened to. Not even as "menstruators" are women listened to. After all, our concerns and pain are even less important as we are only a percentage of "women," to the emerging medical consensus. I 100% echo Caspar's thought--thank you Eliza for taking immense pain and hammering out brilliance for the world. May you find relief and heal!

I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing such an intense reaction to the vaccine, and hope it resolves soon, though I fear medical intervention might be necessary. It is enraging that women's reports of menstrual disorders from both Covid itself and from the vaccine have been so neglected. I did a brief google search and was dismayed by the minimization, ( e.g: https://www.dw.com/en/covid-heavier-periods-after-vaccines-little-cause-for-concern/a-62490749) lack of data, and brushing off of something that affects half of the population between ages of 13 and 50 and can be a huge disruptor of quality of life! Meanwhile, this study seems to confirm what has been noted anecdotally and offers interesting ideas about the mechanisms: https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10.1177/17455057221109375 which might include immune mechanisms leading to vasodilation and thus increased blood volume in menstruation. The lack of even asking the questions about menstruation in surveys and studies of vaccine effects is proof of the ongoing minimization of women's concerns in general medicine. And the Pandemic itself factors into women's menstrual irregularities: https://www.theguardian.com/society/2021/mar/25/pandemic-periods-why-womens-menstrual-cycles-have-gone-haywire. Blaming it on cortisol offers small relief to women suffering from dysmenorrhea. I hope you can find some relief soon. Thank you for your wonderful writing even in the midst of this suffering. We appreciate it.

I'm so very sorry you are going through this! I know someone else in a similar situation, whose gynecologist also believes it to be vaccine related. You are sadly right in how women's issues are sidelined, and science has become politicized to an extent I wouldn't have believed possible 5 years ago. I hope the pain resolves itself for you quickly with no further side effects.

Sorry to hear the grief you're having - women in general sure seem to have gotten the short end of the stick in the reproductive department. Kind of a shame in a way since, maybe arguably, they bring more to the reproductive table - gamete wise, at least - than do males.

I've had 4 Covid shots myself now - 3 Pfizer & 1 Moderna - and, as the fellow who had jumped out of a 10th story window said as he passed the 5th floor, so far, so good. Still a bit apprehensive about the long-term effects. Bit of a crap-shoot, I guess.

But best of luck in resolving your difficulties.

Huh. I didn’t draw a connection between my getting vaccinated and my periods reverting to their evil, debilitating state (my uterus started behaving itself when i had my kid and stopped trying to kill me every month) but for the last 9 ish months it’s been awful again.

Thank you for shining a light on this issue, Eliza. I agree that the way the medical establishment has minimized this issue has given the public even more reason to mistrust them. I pray that your body will heal soon and that your fertility will not be affected.

Eliza, I’m sorry to hear that you e been suffering so badly for so long. As others have said, I appreciate how you have been able to keep writing through all of this.

I had heard some chatter about the vaccine possibly causing issues with periods but had no idea that so many women have been affected. It’s enraging that (once again) women have been ignored about this.

I can relate a little as I used to suffer extreme period pain (the reason I was put on the pill). Please do what you need to do to take care of yourself.

Not sure if it’s worth having your doctor to check your hormones levels. I’m reading a book (beyond the pill - Jolene Brighten) in preparation to come off the pill which has a lot of info on this.

Eliza- I got the vaccine, very hesitantly. 2 days later my period started 6 days early and was very heavy and odd. I am in my later forties so it could always be chalked up to age but I am pretty sure it was vaccine related.

I am sorry to hear what you've been going through, but it is good to see you addressing COUPVID at last, a brutal campaign of health-destruction masquerading as a necessary public health measure.

Like the trans scam, the pseudopandemic is another front in the great War on Reality. Too many people still have this terrible fear of daring to notice the obvious.

I know this is an old article, but I've been reading my way through your archive, and I'm curious if your pain/menstrual issues have resolved? I've had a load of painful gynaecological problems over the last few years, and it's hard to say if the vaccine worsened them, but I always sympathise with others struggling with similar things.

Incidentally, I was also recommended Lupron by my gynaecologist, and it was finding out about the (pretty brutal!) Side effects and the court cases brought against its manufacturer that led me to becoming more sceptical about medical transition. "So this drug is the same one that gets flippantly touted as a miraculous, harm-free puberty blocker!" It's quite the rabbit hole to go down. Lol
